How to use Photo Galleria WP plugin

When I first installed this plugin, it took me awhile to figure out how to use the damn thing… If you’re still fairly new to WP, the instructions aren’t very clear at first read… So here is a more useful tutorial that I found from bigsunphotography.com blog that explained the plugin a bit more in depth. enjoy.

The Photo Galleria plugin synchronizes Galleria with WordPress’ built-in media manager. Simply upload photos as normal and the Photo Galleria plugin will create a photo gallery with fade-in and fade-out effects common on flash-based websites. All the transitions happen inline without having to navigate to multiple WordPress attachment pages. Pretty neat, eh? But it’s not all peaches and cream…

The documentation on how to use this plugin is seemingly non-existant. As such it’s very confusing to know what it is even supposed to do. I actually figured it out completly by accident. When you install a plugin you generally expect that there will be some sort of button, or tab or line of code you add,,,, which will cause “x” to occur. However in the case of Photo Galleria there is not a word to help you. The resulting gallery happen in a completely automated fashion. By this I mean..

You first add a gallery to your post or page in the “normal” manner one would in 2.9 or higher. This varies from person to person but in my case I:

1. first create a post minus the gallery photos
2. then I go to the Media library and upload some photos that I intend to use in a specific post.
3. click on “unattached” to show those recently uploaded images by themselves
4. select all photos and use the dropdown menu to “attach” them to a post
5. use the search to find your most recent post and then apply
6. return to the new post and using the image insert properties box you will now see a “gallery” listed in the tabs.
7. at the bottom of the gallery tab you will see an “insert gallery” to post button.. and there you go.
8. The end result is that the standard “grid gallery” which WP would have given you has been replaced by the Photo Galleria plugin doing it’s thing.
